Every record we make is cut, not pressed

That's not a small distinction to us, it's the whole point. Using our in house custom-built diamond cutting lathes, we cut each groove directly into the record, one at a time. No factory runs, no minimum orders, no waiting weeks for a pressing plant on the other side of the world. Just your music, individually cut, right here on the Gold Coast.

How it started

Gold Coast Magic Records started with a conversation. Talking about getting our own music on vinyl, every option found meant a full production run we didn't need, or a wait list months long just to get in the queue. Ronald, an engineer at heart, figured their had to be a better way. If nobody was going to build it, he would.

So he did. Ronald designed and built our lathes from the ground up, engineering every part of the cutting process from the cutterhead to the calibration so that each record meets a standard we're proud to put our name on. Penelope runs the studio day to day, working directly with customers to make sure every order is exactly what they imagined.

What makes a cut record different

Traditional vinyl pressing requires a master, a stamper, and a minimum run of hundreds. Lathe cutting skips all of that. Each record is cut individually to order, which means:

       * No minimums - order one record or a handful

       * Real turnaround - no factory queues

       * Total flexibility - any audio, any occasion, any message

It's a different process to mass-produced vinyl, and it shows in what it makes possible: genuinely one-of-a-kind records, cut for a single person or moment.
